(Berg Properties) -- News of the off-market sale of Klum’s apartment, at 166 Bank Street in the Village, has been trickling out for the last week-plus. First, the New York Daily News reported on June 5 that Klum had sold the apartment for “around $5.6 million.” Then, the New York Observer’s Max Abelson wrote on Wednesday in his paper’s “The Real Estate” blog that the sale had sold for $5,350,000 (which public records bear out). And finally, yesterday, the New York Post’s fine celebrity real estate columnist Braden Keil led his column with the same news. Indeed, public records show that the sale of the unit took place during the first week of June, and that the buyers, who aren’t celebrities (although the husband is indeed a gallery owner and rock and roll photographer) were a couple who own the unit below Klum. The deal was recorded on Wednesday. Klum apparently isn’t done with New York. Keil reported that friends of Klum say that “she’s looking to buy a substantial pad in downtown Manhattan.” One source told Keil that Klum had “outgrown the apartment” and that she “needs a lot more space for nannies and visiting relatives.” Klum had owned the unit at least since 2002. Over the years, Grace Jones has lived in 166 Bank Street as well.
