Several upscale restaurants will be opening their doors in NYC in the near future. Their draw, however, isn't just the food; it's the price as well. WIth at least one offering a three-course dinner for less than 50 dollars, it's not hard to see how these will be a success!

Gas prices are more than $4 per gallon. US residents are seeing a record number of business failures and foreclosures, but neither of these mean that those hit hardest by the current recession aren't entitled to a good meal. Table 8, a restaurant currently serving customers in Las Angeles and South Beach will be opening a new location in New York in the coming months. So, what's so great about another new restaurant? How about their specials? At Table 8 owners Josh Woodward, Chris Heyman and Govind Armstrong have used the current economy and housing market in their favor by proving what they call the "Recession Concession" menu. This menu is a paired down version of their regular offerings at a fraction of the price. Diners can still enjoy the house specials but don't have to worry that a night out will put a hole in their wallet. Diners at Table 8 get a three course meal that includes and appetizer, main course, and desert for under $45. In markets all across the states restaurant and business owners are taking a page out of the Table 8 book by offering similar deals. At the Below Bar in Colorado customers can choose from recession friendly drinks that include the "Late-on-Your-Rent Lager". At Padres Modern Mexican in Phoenix patrons who bring in a foreclosure notice can choose any drink on the menu for free. Even hot dog vendors in New York City are providing two for one special. With no end to high fuel prices and the housing market continuing to tank look for more and more establishments to provide their own version of the recession special and take the message of Table 8 to heart. You don't have to eat like you’re broke even during a recession.
