By: Larry Dunn A group of swindlers received convictions for criminally profiting from struggling homeowners. Convicted on bank fraud conspiracy, Andrea Moore and Micheal Irving persuaded distraught homeowners to temporarily sign their deeds to them for a year. Their company Homes R US USA would cover the defaulted properties while the victims would take the time to rebuild their cash resources. The culprits instead placed the properties under other mortgages and, along with a group of other conspirator companies, collected millions in fees as the properties went into default. An 84-year-old Bronx woman lost her home as others suffered from the ill-gotten profit in the subprime mortgage crisis. Thought to be the leading culprit, Maurice McDowall was settled with a 10-year prison term among the several individuals who pleaded guilty.
